Domino Transports Driver Competing at Nationals

John Hunter, a driver with our sister company Domino Transports, will be competing at the National Truck Driving Championship this week.  He qualified for the championship by winning his class at the Oklahoma Truck Driving Championship in June.

John has been driving with Domino Transports for 4.5 years, and has been in the industry for 28 years.  He’s driven over 2 million safe miles!

He has a long history of driving in truck driving championships.  John competed from 1996-2009 and again starting in 2015.  He has won first in class 6 times and grand champion 3 of those times.  He’s competed at nationals 5 times, and is competing for the national title once again this week.

At the state competition, John competed against 9 of the best tanker truck drivers in Oklahoma.  There were 103 drivers overall, competing in 9 different divisions.

The driving competition is judged on 3 different areas.  First is a written test over DOT compliance.  Second is a pre-trip inspection of a truck and tanker to see what violations might be found.  The final portion is a driving test, during which the driver drives through a course and is judged on 6 different problems.  Once all three are completed, the points are tallied to determine the winner of each class.

John will be performing these tasks beginning this Wednesday as competes at Nationals in Columbus, Ohio.  The championship takes place August 15-18.
